Where Ocean Meets the World

It is where the ocean meets the shore

We had  played pirate

Combing for buried treasure

Searching caves and low tides for proof of mermaids

You told me they were cruel

Illusive women half fish half desire

Beautiful corrected I

Same thing said you

We walked away from the conflict

I behind you

Comparing length of our steps in shifting sands

Swinging my arms in wilder arcs

Hoping to chance touch your finger tips

Our laughs bordered on shrieks

Edging towards mania

You glowed eyes bright

Your mouth a rip across your face

The words, it is you, lodged between my teeth

We run faster then the dwindling light

Our breath tears from our lungs

Our limbs spinning catching the last of the sun

We run towards a horizon made of flames
